Samters Lofts

The Samters Brothers Clothing Store was founded in 1872. They sold mens and boys suits, overcoats, and high-end clothing with a tailor on site. To accommodate their growing business, The Samters Lofts building located at 101 Penn Ave in Scranton was erected in 1923.

The Jefferson-Werner team converted this building into a mixed-use historic rehab which was completed as of December 2018. The ground floor houses the newly established Commonwealth Coffeehouse and the AFA Gallery, while floors two through five house 24 fully-occupied one-bedroom apartments.
