Redevelopment efforts at the former Chamber of Commerce Building, 426 Mulberry Street, Scranton, will soon bring additional retail and residential spaces to the downtown area making it a great time to rediscover all of the ways you can live, work and play in downtown Scranton.

The former Chamber of Commerce Building, built in 1926 and designed by architect Edward Langley, featured Art Deco-style banquet rooms, meeting rooms, a card room and restaurant, with marble floors and stairs. According to Property Manager Jessica Kalinoski, the renovations will retain the building’s historic character while creating unique, state-of-the-art living spaces.

Kalinoski said that the project, when finished, will include four retail stores and 40 apartments, including loft-style apartments with spiral staircases, original hardwood floors and 20-foot-high windows. Some units, according to Kalinoski, will offer balconies and fireplaces.

Construction at the former Chamber Building began in April and Kalinoski expects the project to be completed by October. “We expect it to be rented out within two months,” Kalinoski said. “There is a huge demand for space in the downtown area.” Kalinoski expects most apartment units to be affordably priced in the range of $700-1,500 per month.
